Visual presentations

Multiple literacies in multiple contexts

Provide a visual presentation of how you are 'joining the dots' of literacy in context at your organisation.

These presentations will be set up in the morning and available for people to view all day. During the lunch break presenters of each display will make themselves available to other conference participants to talk about their visual display, answers questions and exchange ideas in an informal way.

Space size: The size of the space on which you will exhibit your display will be 1800mm wide and 1200mm high. You will have one display board/space each.

You can therefore prepare your display to any size within this range.

Readable: Make sure that your print is large enough to be read from a distance with appropriate title and sub-titles. Make your heading prominent and sections clear for text, photos, tables, etc. Try to break up sections of your text with illustrations or graphics, which will make your display, appear attractive, uncluttered and well organised.

Materials: You may find that different standard sizes for poster board or paper may fit within this space. For example AO size is 841 x 1189mm, so displayed in landscape, a single sheet would leave considerable space on these boards. Alternatively two AO size poster boards displayed in portrait beside each other would almost entirely fill the space on the display board.

It is up to you how you fill this space. It could be with one or two poster sheets. Or it could be a collage with many smaller pictures, other images, headings and other text to form a whole display.

For those who intend to create a display using electronic graphic design software such as 'Canva', you may wish to create a QR code to share your display.

Other materials: If you wish to further enhance your display with a video on a laptop or tablet, handouts or information please bring on the day. You will need to be responsible for this material.

Time: We expect you to fix your display to your allocated space before morning break on the 20th May. The displays will be exhibited during lunch. See the conference program for times. We expect you to be present in the close vicinity of the display during this lunch break, and be available for conference delegates who may have questions or want to discuss your visual presentation with you.

Pack-up: After the designated time for the visual display, you are free to leave your display until the end of the day. The poster display boards will be in place until after lunch.
