Committee News

1. Update

The series of FSTP forums has concluded with positive feedback from those who attended. This was a VALBEC initiative to collaborate with IBSA and thanks go to facilitators Anita Roberts and Robert Bluer.

A productive meeting was held with ACFE representatives to discuss ACFE board funding support for VALBEC activities in 2013. More detailed planning will take place at the annual planning day in January.

Sandra Wolfe attended the ANHLC AGM as part of VALBEC’s ongoing commitment to the sector’s peak organisations. Sandra has also accepted the role of Victorian ACAL representative.

The last committee meeting for 2012 will be held on Wednesday 5 December.

The VALBEC committee would like to extend thanks to all our members for their support throughout the year. We would also like to thank ACFE staff members, Sian Lewis, Jane De Wildt, Deborah Westfield, Alley Peck and the chairperson, Rowena Allen and the ACFE board for their ongoing support.

We wish you all a safe and happy festive season and look forward to working together again in 2013.

2. 2012 National Year of Reading

Appreciative followers of Pauline O'Maley’s insights into reading theory and practice will enjoy her last contribution with her recommendations for some edifying summer reading. It has been a delight to read her monthly musings and we would like to thank her for her commitment and diligence in writing so eloquently about her year of reading.

Next year is the International Year of Statistics (and Quinoa!) so we will be looking for a correspondent – we will keep you posted.

Enjoy Pauline's December reading
