Committee News

1. Update

The main item for our April meeting was the proposed changes to the VALBEC constitution to be put as a special resolution at the AGM. The proposed version of the constitution uses the Consumer Affairs Model Rules with some variations to meet our organisation’s needs. Members will have received the Notice of meeting for the 2013 Annual General Meeting and the documents are available on the website. Nomination forms are also available on the website if you are thinking of standing for the committee.

We also discussed the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) with updated information thanks to Jan Hagston and now available on the website.
Members (and only members) will receive Fine Print in their mailboxes over the next few days. Another bumper edition with excellent feature articles, practical advice for teaching and learning and reviews of resources.
Fine Print provides a very good reason to make sure you renew your membership or become a VALBEC member today!

Next committee meeting: Wednesday 8 May (teleconference)

+

2 single men in possession of a good fortune

+

3 balls to attend

+

4 weddings (no funeral)

+

5 daughters

+

10 thousand a year

+

A plethora of ins and outs, and a regiment or two

+

23 years of marriage (oh Mr Bennett you saint!)

A delightful read, a timeless wry eye (and Colin Firth smouldering in my mind as Mr Darcy - bliss!)

Regards

Pauline

7. 2013 Victorian Learn Local Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2013 Victorian Learn Local Awards – proudly brought to you by the Adult, Community and Further Education Board.

The Awards are a great way to gain recognition for the hard work and achievements made by individuals, programs and organisations within the Learn Local education and training sector.

This year the ACFE Board has revised the Award Categories and in 2013, $35,000 in prize money will be awarded across five categories.

For the first time there will be an acknowledgement award for businesses - Learn Local for Business.  You can nominate a business you work with for their commitment to training their employees. The eight ACFE Regional Councils will each nominate a Learn Local Legend to be recognised for their outstanding contribution to the sector.

Nominations close on June 14.
