2. 'Addressing Learners Pronunciation Needs' workshop

Teachers often have difficulty knowing how to address the pronunciation needs of their learners.

This interactive forum will focus on the different elements of pronunciation, exploring some theory related to phonology and how research can inform teachers' practice.

Our 2019 theme – Resilience: connect, educate, empower – invites us to celebrate and explore how teachers, students and institutes achieve in education. How do we change what we can, adjust to what we can't and keep our eye on the goal of success for students? Do we bring resilience with us, reveal it through language and collegiate action or both? 

Join us on May 17th, 2019 to explore just how we have managed to 

• Connect – with colleagues, community and students to succeed in a new skill, or lay down the foundations for something new

• Educate – by the development and delivery of good learning experiences for students or staff.

• Empower – demonstrate how learning has enabled students or colleagues to utilise their resilience to achieve their goals

4. Fine Print and 'The Meaning of Life'

Welcome to the start of the 2019 teaching year from the Fine Print editorial committee.

We will be publishing Volume 42 of Fine Print this year and, as any fan of The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy will tell you, 42 is the answer to the question: 'What is the meaning of life?'

The meaning of life for Fine Print is to be a forum for researchers, practitioners and policy makers to ask each other questions and suggest some possible answers. While the content for Issue #1 is well in hand, we welcome you to submit proposals for future issues. Please contact fineprint@valbec.org.au
