40 Stories of Adult Literacy Learners
Stories provide us a valuable insight into the minds and experiences of others so that we can learn, empathise and stretch our knowledge and imagination. When adult literacy learners share their stories it is not only a very empowering activity for them as individuals but also provides insightful understandings for the adult literacy practitioner.
As part of VALBEC's 40 year celebrations, we will collate 40 stories of adults literacy learners from around the country and world. So take time out this year to read and watch some adult literacy stories to remind you and inspire you in your practice. 3. ACAL – Informing Professional Discussions
Last week ACAL held its AGM and hosted a webinar by Rosalie Martin on the importance of relational trust.
Two interesting features in the recent newsletter are:

4. VALBEC Conference May 17, 2019
Come and join us on May 17th, 2019 for the 2019 VALBEC Conference.
We'll be working on the theme of Resilience. Working from the three drivers for VALBEC's work: Connect, Educate, Empower, consider how these resonant with accessing, developing and using resilience for yourselves, your students and your provider.
Keep an eye out for the call for proposals.

It is International Day of People with a Disability on December 3.

Minister for Skills and Training Gayle Tierney MP announced last Friday, an increase in funding by $2.56 million which will raise the student contact hour rate by 10 per cent for pre-accredited courses.
